Before you shop for your wedding or prom dress, be sure to have you measurements-bust, hips and waist-handy since not all designers' size charts are the same. And know your body: Are you an H (not so curvy), an A (smaller on top), or an hourglass (curvy)? Then try on different styles to find the dress that will flatter your figure. Pay attention to the length, color, the material, neck line, sleeves and the way the dress falls on your body-you want to be comfortable. Bust Not your bra! Take the tape around your back and bring it across the fullest part of your bust. Your arms should be relaxed, down at your sides. You must wear a bra when taking this measurement.	Waist This is the smallest part of your waist. Typically it`s an inch or so above your belly button. Also known as the natural waistline.	Hips This is the widest part of your hips, across the hipbone. Measurement is taken approximately 7 inches below the natural waistline. This measurement is not needed for full gowns.	Hollow to Hem This is the length from your hollow ( the hollow just under your neck ) to your heels. (Take the tape from your front, with bare foot ). You should stand upright and your feet should keep together.

It is a smart thing to keep in mind a bridal budget when planning for your wedding. Rather than splurge on the most expensive designer dress you can find, search for some alternatives or look at some avenues that may be off the map of normal places to look for a wedding dress. In the long run, you may find the affordable wedding dress of your dreams at the cost you were dreaming of as well!

Choose the right size. Order a dress size that will be as close as possible to your largest measurement: if you've got a fairly large bust and a small waist, for example, order a dress in a size that comfortably fits your bust and have the waist taken in. It's a lot easier and cheaper to take a dress in than it is to let it out, so keep that in mind. For this very reason, buy a dress to fit you based on the size you are today. Don't order a dress a size smaller because you plan on losing a lot of weight. If your weight tends to fluctuate or you plan on dieting before the big day, have your last fitting done ten days or so before the wedding (we'll cover fittings a bit later on). If you do lose weight, it'll be easy to have the dress taken in. A dress that's too small, however, cannot be let out a whole size.
